The eighth Annual Top 20 Under 20™Award Breakfast took place June 2nd at Arcadian Court on Bay Street in Toronto. Presented by Youth in Motion and sponsored by Intact Insurance and Intact Foundation, the Top 20 Under 20™ Award has three pillars: Innovation, Leadership and Achievement.

The 2011 Leaders range in age from 15 – 19 represent a cross section of diverse communities from coast to coast. Many of the young winners are immigrants or came from immigrant families, including:

  • 19 year old Ivneet Bains, who came to Canada from India in 2007 before starting Math4me, a mentoring organization which develops young Canadians academically and personally.
  • 19 year old Mohsin Khan who established a non-profit, peer-lead organization Lead2Peace, which serves Toronto’s Regent Park and Moss Park neighbourhoods.
  • The youngest recipient, 15 year old Rui Song from Saskatoon, whose award winning project (at the age of 14) examines ways to prevent fungal development on lentil crops.

“The passion exhibited by the Top 20 is truly inspirational,” says Charles Brindamour, President & CEO of Intact Financial Corporation. The Top 20 Under 20™ Award Program major supporters include Intact Insurance, Intact Foundation, BMO Capital Markets, PepsiCo Canada, CTV Inc., and the Institute of the Chartered Accountants of Ontario. Top 20 Under 20™ rewards young Canadians of all backgrounds who show significant innovation, achievement, and leadership.
