You resettled in Canada. Are you happy with that decision?

You should be. And we should be happy to have you. Your children are going to play great roles in this country's future. We should welcome you warmly.
At Canadian Newcomer Magazine, we will speak to you in the language you must learn in order to prosper in this new country, but we will not treat you like children. That is something that happens far too often. Some people are too polite, many ignore you, and others are angry because you cannot understand them or they cannot understand you. Experiences like these may make you feel small, but you are not small. You are a part of something very large: a community of millions of people in the Greater Toronto Area (the GTA), who share or have shared many of the same problems.

And millions of other people have come before you.

Most of the young people in this city are either immigrants themselves or the children of immigrants - all once newcomers just like you.

This magazine was created to help you feel less alone. We will show you what Canadians care about, how we live, and how our government works. We will tell you about agencies created to help you make a new life in Canada. We will tell you about television shows in your first language, or at least, shows about your part of the world.

Over the next few issues, Canadian Newcomer Magazine will help you figure out how to find a job, how to get a credit card and we will suggest places to shop for food. Our articles will explain Canadian sports and go inside homes and business to see how Canadians live. We will talk to children of immigrants to show you where your children may end up in 20 years. Pick up a copy and spend some time with us.

Canadian Newcomer Magazine wants you to thank you for coming to Canada. We hope we can make you feel welcome.
