ACCCES Employment Services award winning Speed Mentoring Program is getting better. CIBC announced its sponsorship of the program joining other companies like Deloitte, Kraft Canada, Unilever, Procter and Gamble, McKinsey & Co. and TD.

The Honourable Michael Chan, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration congratulated the financial institution and asked other private corporations to join ACCES in helping newcomers get settled faster. “This program is really helping newcomers to find a job, a much better job, faster. I congratulate companies like CIBC that support worthwhile initiatives that help newcomers who are settling in Ontario and looking for opportunities that match their qualifications. We are open to welcome other corporations; we invite them to join this program.”

Speed Mentoring events were designed as a solution to help newcomers overcome the obstacle of not having a strong network of professional contacts. Jobseekers meet with a mentor from their industry for 10 minutes and at the ring of a bell move to the next mentor. These high-powered, high-energy coaching sessions provide jobseekers with inspiration, encouragement and valuable industry information and connections.

Allison Pond, ACCES Executive Director, explained that Speed Mentoring is also a great opportunity for corporations. “The program gives them (the corporations) a chance to meet with prospects. Also it encourages people who participate in Speed Mentoring to become full mentors.” Over 500 jobseekers have participated in some of ACCES speed mentoring events.
