Careers: The Need for New Canadians in our Health Care System
Newcomers to Canada bring a wealth of experience and education that is vital to our health care system. Although it is tremendously difficult for newcomers to arrive in Canada and begin here where you left off back home, bridging programs are now available in Toronto, allowing foreign-trained professionals to earn a Canadian Diploma in health care in as little as six weeks.
Robetech Institute, a Toronto health care career college with over 17 years of experience, is now providing Fast-Track Training for Foreign-Trained Professionals. This program allows new Canadians with prior learning to earn their Canadian diploma in a very short period of time, in order to pursue career opportunities in Canada’s health care industry.
Recognizing how many foreign-trained professionals arrive in Canada each year with quality education from outside of Canada, Robetech has created the Fast-Track initiative allowing individuals with university degrees from foreign countries to have their degree recognized and “counted” towards an accredited Canadian Diploma as a Medical Lab Technician, Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Assistant or Personal Support Worker. Rather than spending years inside the classroom, foreign-trained professionals can now earn a Canadian diploma in a matter of weeks.
“Over the past four years, we have been working on developing a system that would allow us to offer foreign-trained medical technologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, personal support workers, nurses and doctors an opportunity to earn a Canadian Diploma in a short period of time” explains Jean Robles of Robetech Institute. “Student affordability and most importantly flexibility we also important to Robetech when we developed this program” she adds. “We work with students offering them flexible schedules, providing all resources necessary to prepare for their OSMT (Ontario Society of Medical Technologists).
Not only can foreign-trained professionals attending Robetech earn a Canadian diploma, graduates also have the opportunity to be placed in a Physiotherapy or Rehabilitation Centre for one to six weeks.
If you are a foreign-trained professional interested in continuing your career path in Canada in the field of health care, you can contact Robetech Institute to learn more. Classes begin monthly. Call 416-466-6107 or visit Robetech at 150 Laird Dr. at Laird & Eglinton.
